Resumen
The monitoring of the species and alternative hosts of the genera Anastrepha Schiner and Ceratitis Wied in Gualaceo, Chordeleg and Sigsig, all cantons of the province of Azuay is important for the management of this pest. The research was conducted from September 2014 to August 2015, using 20 McPhail traps and Jackson traps placed in 20 significant orchards. The results were the identification of the following 8 species of fruit flies:.A. fraterculus Wied., A. distincta Greene, A. grandis Macquart, A. striata Schiner, A. obliqua Macquart, A. serpentina Wied., A. spp. y Ceratitis capitata Wied. By calculating the average fly / trap / day (MTD) it was noted that the increase in population occurs from February to August concurrent with the fruiting stage of cultivated and / or wild hosts. The highest MTD found belongs to the canton of Gualaceo with 3.20 followed by Chordeleg at 1.90 and Sigsig at 0.97. Among the cultivated and / or wild hosts these fruit flies were determined: Prunus Persica L., Annona cherimola M., Psidium guajava M., Citrus sinensis O., Inga edulis M., Juglans neotropica D., Myrtus communis L. y Citrus reticulata B.
