Background: Children's health shows us indirectly what the state of health of a population, the frequency of intestinal parasitosis gives us a general idea of several factors that are influencing the quality of life of the people, as it is known so overall more than 50.7% of school children have 5, with this problem more noticeable in rural areas and in tropical regions offer ideal conditions for their growth and spread.
Objective: To determine the prevalence of intestinal parasites in children in the community of Canton Yampas Logroño, Morona Santiago province.
Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study in the same who included 174 children between 5 and 14 years old living in the rural community of Yampas, who were applied a form to determine socioeconomic variants plus a determination macroscopic parasites by an examination coproparasitario; the obtained data were processed in SPSS 15 statistical program analyzed with descriptive statistics.
Results: Of the children studied, 53.4% were men, besides most live in overcrowded conditions 67,2%, in the same manner 72,9% of representatives has a primary education, 87,5% children have intradomiciliary animals, 83.3% have no potable water and no one has sewer; a prevalence of 90.8% of parasitosis of which 43,7% has a biparasitismo was evident, with the cyst of amoeba Histolityca the most frequent 38,2%.
Conclusion: The prevalence of parasitosis in children Yampas community is 90.8%
