Tourism in the city of Cuenca has increased in recent years, the city become one of the most visited and ideals cities for living. Therefore, both public and privateinstitutions are focusing on the development of tourism as a tool for growth of communities by encouraging the creation of tourist activities. In this line, Cuenca develops and becomes important publicity communication, and specifically advertising photography of tourist destinations as the primary method to promote attractions.
The publicity of the Fundación Municipal “Turismopara Cuenca" (FMTC) has played an important role in terms of diffusion in support of the boom of tourism publicity, and its worth as a communication tool. This graduate work contains the analysis of publicity photographs in tourist promotion of the Foundation; It is also focused on the deficiencies and what it could be strengthened to improve publicity images. In this case, the Foundation as an object of study. So, they can be perceived in a clearly way by the tourist.
This study covers a deep research in subjects as tourism publicity and photography, how their activities can contribute to the growth of tourism. Two theories are applied in this thesis: textual coherence and action illustration; which were conducted for the correct development of this analysis, in this way, the publicity photography in promoting tourism in the FMTC makes the city be seen as a tourist attraction of immense potential.
