The objective of this degree work is to determinate and analyze the dynamic properties
of Experimental Structural Models (ESM). A shaking table was designed and built to
successfully complete the objective. Then, dynamic tests with ESMs of one or two
Degree of Freedom (DOF) were executed. The displacement and acceleration records
were obtained from the tests through artificial vision (AV) and accelerometers
respectively.
The working ranges of the shaking table were determined by the precision and accuracy
of the movement evaluations at different frequencies and amplitudes. The precision was
calculated comparing the displacement registers obtained with the incremental optical
encoder in the tests carried out and, the accuracy was evaluated by comparing the
experimental registers with the theoretical ones previously proposed.
For the application of artificial vision as a displacement measurement method, (Choi et
al., 2011) proposes a process for correcting the error produced by the curvature of the
camera lens. In this work, the correction procedure was simplified. The precision and
accuracy of the artificial vision was determined with the error between the displacement
records obtained by this method and those obtained by the incremental optical encoder.
Finally, based on the displacement and acceleration records obtained from the free and
harmonic vibration tests, the dynamic properties of period, frequency and damping ratio
of the ESMs were determined. With these properties, the ESMs were modeled
mathematically and their results over time were compared with the experimental ones
