Resumen
The Quevedo River is the main water source for the PACALORI project. A flow rate of 30 m $^3$/s will be diverted from Quevedo river to the irrigation areas of the PACALORI project through channels. Modeling the flow using 1-D and 2-D mathematical models is proposed for determining the hydraulic parameters such us: water depths, flow velocity, bed and bank roughness for different rates. In addition, those analyses help to determinate the right hydraulic structures for diverting the river flow o the irrigation areas. This research aims to modeling Quevedoriver under natural conditions using HEC-RAS (1-D) and IBER (2-D). The hydraulic structures in the Quevedo river emplacement the hydraulic structures are modeled in 2-D. The flow regime was assigned like boundary condition in IBER. While in HEC-RAS it was as average slope of the river. Results show that flood maps obtained by modeling 1-D and 2-D are similar. Thus, it can concluded that HEC-RAS model can ve used for modeling the flow in meandering rives like this case of study. Two-dimensional modeling results of the still basin show a correct energy dissipation. The upstream water levels from the hydraulic structures area higher then the normal operation water level. Finally, flow recirculation areas were identified. They low flow velocity, thus high sedimentation occurs there. It might compromise the efficiency of hydraulic structures.
