General objective: to determine the incidence of congenital heart diseases in adults at the
José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital in the period 2015 to March 2020.

March 2020, the study area was the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital. The universe was made
up of patients diagnosed with a congenital heart disease at 18 years of age or older. The
information was collected from the AS400 program of the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital by
means of a form, it was registered in Excel and analyzed in the Epi Info 7.2.2.6 program, the
results were presented by incidence, frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The
research was developed after the approval of the Bioethics Committee.
Results: among 219,897 adult patients treated in the hospital, 227 were diagnosed with
congenital heart disease, giving an incidence of 0.1%, 84.1% were acyanotic, with atrial
septal defect being more frequent with 41.8% of cases. A 58.6% were women, the mean age
