The aim of the present study was to analyze the incidence of cement particle size distribution under different conditions of operation of the cement mill and its relationship with the mechanical strength through different days, applying the granulometry technique by using laser diffraction. For this purpose, an observational longitudinal study was carried out on 28 samples, as a result of 28 modifications of the air separator speed (G35) and speed variator (G39) of the cement mill at the Planta Guapán which belongs to Unión Cementera Nacional located in the Guapán Parish of the Azogues Canton. Samples were analyzed on a Masterziser 3000 laser granulometer to obtain particle distribution; on the other hand, resistance tests were performed for each sample in the lapses of 1, 3, 7 and 28 days, meeting the NTE INEN 488: 2009 standard. Two results were found, the first one showed that the particle size distribution analysis tested by the Rossin RammleR granulometric function is not correlated to the mechanical properties of the cement, while the second shows that when increasing the speed of the air separator and speed variator, the mechanical properties of the cement enhanced, resulting in a significant correlation of 0.394 (p<0.05), according to the parametric test Pearson Correlation Coefficient.
