The Amaru Bioparque Cuenca, is a center for conservation and protection of wildlife, produces large amounts of organic materials from substrates used in the animal facility of the depositions of the animal and food waste remains. These wastes are not managed properly, why have seen the need to conduct a comparative study for composting by manual technique.
The objectives of this study were to establish the best mix and compost conditions of different organic waste generated in the Basin Amaru Bioparque to the end, a comparative analysis of the factors: temperature, humidity, pH, organic matter, macro and trace elements, the variety of fungi and bacteria that are involved in the process of composting, as well as compost quality, evaluated in the germination phase of vegetables (lettuce and broccoli).
Once the comparative analysis of the two treatments T1 (herbivore dung + leftovers) and T2 (+ carnivore dung remains vivarium), statistically significant difference was found, since T1 is the one presented the best results according to these parameters, and having index seed germination above 90%.
The results obtained in this study confirm that composting is a real solution to the treatment of organic materials, oonce the material has been sanitized and stabilized can be safely disposed for agricultural use, in compliance with regulatory requirements and needs of the farm
