Resumen
Today, the older adult population is increasing. Considering that their situation is vulnerable, older adults face various problems related to their age; among the most common are those linked to physical, hearing and visual impairment that greatly affect the way they communicate and interact with other people. These consequences lead to the emergence of new technologies and methods to improve their quality of life.
In the present document, a new method called UIAAC has been proposed, which aims to guide developers in the design and creation of graphical interfaces for augmentative and alternative communication systems aimed at the elderly, which incorporate pictograms as a medium of communication. In other words, software developers can design quality interfaces by following a process that encompasses tasks from contextualization to implementing a functional interface.
Finally, a web application has been developed to help improve the communication of an older adult, whose interfaces have been designed following the process of the proposed method, in order to validate its applicability. Also, a quasi-experiment has been carried out to evaluate the method's usability evaluation task, from which results were obtained that validate the evaluation process.
