Resumen
The objective of this work is to implement a gamified process that includes reading mediation
strategies, techniques and dynamics to promote the development of the reading habit; which
despite its importance and the enormous benefits for the development of thinking and learning
inside and outside the classroom, continues to be an aspect neglected by the schools and
colleges of Cuenca. As reading mediator book Cuentos fantásticos. De pactos y
encantamientos Tomo II will be used, which will allow us to arouse the interest of students and
rescue the customs and traditions of the city through popular legend. Regarding the
methodology, a mixed approach has been chosen that integrates the quantitative and qualitative
approaches to achieve a deeper analysis. The research was descriptive, based mainly on the
research-action methodology, which focuses on educational change through reflection. The
study population consists of a sample of 32 eighth year EGB students from Escuela de
Educación Básica Julio Abad Chica. The results obtained show that gamification combined
with the appropriate strategies for reading has a positive impact on the development of reading
habits and the enjoyment of reading.
