Resumen
Background: The human body contains about 5 liters of blood depending on weight, height, sex and origin. Red blood cells, a type of cell present in the blood, is made up of a cytoplasm containing hemoglobin responsible for transporting oxygen, carbon dioxide and a cell membrane that has glycoproteins with antigenic capacity through which the different blood groups can be identified: ABO system and Rh system.
Blood units obtained by donation are used as therapy in surgical processes, mothers with complications in the process of childbirth, severe accidents with significant blood loss, organ transplants or other diseases that affect the blood, such as anemia and leukemia.
Objective: To determine the frequency of phenotypes of the negative Rh system in blood samples obtained from donors who attended the Blood Bank of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the 2016-2020 period.
Methodology: A descriptive, retrospective study was carried out. The data were collected through the Blood Bank of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital using the collection forms. The information was registered, tabulated, and analyzed in Excel and SPSS Statistics V26, the assosiacion of variables was made out with the Chi square statistician with a statistical significance of 5% (p<0.05).
Results: It was found that 754 donors with Rh negative factor have the blood phenotypes: ccdee, Ccdee, ccdEe y CcdEe, being the phenotype with the highest percentage ccdee 90.5 %. No statistical significance was found according to sex, origin and blood group.
