Resumen
The human being through time has aspired to achieve happiness, this can be defined as a state of fullness of being, which translates into inner peace, personal satisfaction, achievement of goals. University student studies on happiness have shown that the perception of a state of happiness has a favorable impact on the academic and personal performance of students. It is for this reason that studying the perception of happiness in university students is the main reason for the present investigation, which aimed to describe the perception of happiness that students of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca have. The approach is qualitative, with a Phenomenological cross-sectional research design and an exploratory scope. The participants were the students of the three psychology careers of the University of Cuenca; we worked with a sample of 12 students from the seventh to the tenth cycle of the three careers: clinical, educational and social psychology of the University of Cuenca. The student representatives of each cycle were interviewed -three for each cycle-. Students give importance to personal security and a state of balance from inner plenitude, as fundamental pieces to achieve happiness, also related to interpersonal relationships, achievements, successes, as well as the possibility of making decisions in freedom. The family relationship was considered as support, assessment and acceptance. Interpersonal relationships are important as a space for socialization.
