Introduction: nowadays, injuries are the leading cause of death in the first forty years of the lifetime. The most common mechanisms to keep in mind are traffic accidents and less height falls, gunshot wounds, stab wounds and crushing. Abdominal trauma occupies much of the emergency surgical acts (1) (2). Specifically abdominal trauma has become a public health problem worldwide.
Objective: to define the prevalence and factors associated with abdominal trauma patients in the E.R. in Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in 2014.
Material and methods: it is an analytical, cross-sectional research therefore 117 patient records were analyzed with abdominal trauma which were recorded and processed forms of collection.
Results: the prevalence of abdominal trauma engages the amount of 0.78% of patients who were treated in the E.R. in Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in 2014, the most frequently age group was between 18-40 years with 68,4%, the most frequently genre was the male one with 71,8%, of which 75,2% closed trauma was the leading one, the principal cause of abdominal trauma were traffic accidents with 62 (53%).
Conclusions: the predominant abdominal trauma was led by 75.2% and prevalence of accident 53% with trauma.
