Background: In February 2020, a new coronavirus was identified as SARS-CoV2, the etiologic agent of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). On March 11 of the same year, the World Health Organization declared this disease as a pandemic. From this date on, the participation of health personnel in Ecuador has been key to face the health emergency.
General objective: To analyze the individual, family and social situation of health personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cuenca - Ecuador. September 2020.
Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, using the database of the second round of surveys of the International Citizen Project Covid 19 (ICPCovid), collected through an electronic form sent to institutional emails of 1697 participants from universities and the municipal corporation. The results were processed in SPSS 15.0, using frequency distribution, measures of central tendency (mean) and dispersion (standard deviation), this are presented in tables. Parameters such as adaptation were classified as low (0 - 1), moderate (2-3), high, (more than 4).
Results: Health personnel have gone through situations of discrimination and aggression due to their professional condition; they have difficulty getting food because did not have money and they have also presented a high adaptability to the measures implemented by the government.
Conclusion: The health personnel of Cuenca - Ecuador present a complex individual, family and social situation as they are first line of defense of the COVID-19 pandemic. More studies are required related to their situation and the relationship with the current pandemic.
