The struggle for the rights of homosexual people in Ecuador and around the world began a long time ago, although it is just a couple of decades ago, that the movement being organized to achieve its goals. Within this movement, there are lesbian women who for a long time were invisible and discriminated against by a part of society. The research presented is based on the lesbianism and its struggle for inclusion was carried out in the city of Cuenca during the year 2018.
The present document with title "Lesbianism in Cuenca society from 2000 to 2017", which objective was to describe the inclusion of lesbianism in the city of Cuenca. A qualitative methodological design was applied, and it was used life stories and interviews to women who have lived their condition from the struggle for their rights, discrimination, violence, stereotypes, and other phenomena and problems that have been identified in this research.
The life stories and interviews showed a constant contrast in the Cuenca society, among those who recognize and support the struggle for the rights of lesbian women, and another part of population that is opposed to the existence of this movement, arguing different cultural, social, and religious opinions. However, it is able to see in the information that the struggle has been used to move from ostracism and invisibility, to the gradual and increasing recognition of their rights.
