Resumen
Background
Urinary tract infection during pregnancy is associated with maternal and neonatal
complications, being the most frequent threat of preterm delivery and low birth weight.
Nationally, according to the 2014 INEC, the prevalence is 15,13%.
Objective
To identify the prevalence and associated factors of urinary tract infection in pregnant
users of the Virgen del Milagro health center in 2018 and determine whether there is a
relationship with the following factors: age between 20-28 years, second trimester of
gestation, previous UTI, pregnant women with low education, ≤ 3 prenatal controls,
second / multiparous and presence of comorbidities.
Methodology
Analytical, quantitative, retrospective, descriptive and observational type study. Universe
1026 pregnant women, but no sample size was calculated. Analysis performed with
Excel 2019, IBM SPSS V22.
For the association between UTI and the variables it was used Chi-Square. It
was considered, statistically significant association, p <0.05.
Results
Prevalence of UTI found 42,7%. We found a statistically significant association with: parity
(p = 0,01) and high blood pressure as comorbidity (p = 0,03).
Conclusion
Higher prevalence of UTI during pregnancy in the population group studied, the risk
factors were: having high blood pressure and having had at least two children
