Resumen
The adulthood is a stage defined by the changes at the physical, cognitive and social level, which integrates both objective and subjective factors, characterized by the deterioration in the vital dimensions of a person, these factors influence the perception of quality of life, which is defined as the perception that an individual has about their place in existence and the context in which it develops; that is why, the purpose of this research was to relate the perception of quality of life of the older adult with their sociodemographic variables, in a population of 46 older adults who attend the Hogar de los Abuelos, for which the WHOQOL-BREF instrument and a sociodemographic record were used. The study followed a quantitative approach, with non-experimental type design and correlational scope; for the analysis of the data, parametric tests were used, like: Student’s T test and Pearson correlation coefficient; also, nonparametric tests were used, like: Mann-Whitney U test and Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient. It was observed that the population perceives levels between middle and high quality of life; it is evident that there is no significant relationship between the evaluated domains of quality of life and sociodemographic variables, however, it was found that, around the general perception of quality of life, there is a positive relationship with three domains: physical, psychological and environment relationships; while the degree of satisfaction with health has a positive relationship with the four domains evaluated: physical, psychological, social relationships and environment relationships. In conclusion, there was no relationship between the quality of life, perceived by the older adults who attend the Hogar de los Abuelos, and their sociodemographic variables.
