Resumen
MAIN TARGET: The present study aims to determine the risk behaviors of the school adolescents that frequenting bars and nightclubs in the “Calle Larga” Street, in Cuenca city. (This street is in the historic center of Cuenca, where there are as many bars and nightclubs).
METHODS AND MATERIALS: This is a quantitative descriptive study. The universe of this study includes 307 adolescents in Cuenca in the 2014. (1) The collected data were obtained using a validated application form which was taken prior assent and/or consent of adolescents between 10 and 19 years that go to the “Calle Larga” on Fridays, Saturdays during the month of May, 2014.
RESULTS: The study found that 67.75% of adolescents drink alcohol, a 28.66% smoke a cigarette and 8.79% smoke marijuana, this last being the drug of choice.
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of use of alcohol, cigarettes and other drugs in adolescents attending nightlife places in “Calle Larga” in Cuenca in may 2014, was higher in late adolescence and it is a risk in their behavior when are in the company of friends.
