Liver diseases are very common in our city. For this reason the main goal of this study was to determine the prevalence of liver disorders according to age and sex of each patient, as well associated factors as: alcohol, drugs, toxins, and systemic diseases, infectious, immunologic, genetic, metabolic and vascular disorders. It is a cross-sectional study and the samples were patients with liver disorders who were attended in the area of internal medicine of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the period of January 2009 to December 2010. This material was collected through forms from information in each medical record. For the execution of this thesis, the information was taken from books, journals, clinical guidelines, clinical trials to date and the results were tabulated, analyzed and presented in tables and charts using the SPSS statistical program. ABSTRACT: At the end of this study, we can conclude that the main factor associated with liver disease is alcoholism that occurs 2 times more in men than in women, whom 60% use alcohol excessively and 80% developed cirrhosis. The second most prevalent factor is the organic phosphorus poisoning that occurs in 50.7% of cases among patients aged 16 - 45 years old, male, presenting 71.9% of cases of liver failure. The third factor related to the presence of liver disease is hepatitis B virus occurs primarily in men between 36 - 45 years and is responsible for 62.5% of cases of hepatitis and 10% of cases of hepatocellular carcinoma in the study sample.
