Resumen
Macleania rupestris joyapa is a flowering plant from the Andes which is characterized by their multiple potential use. Mostly used by its fruits, it is commonly harvested from wild populations, and lacking rapid and efficient methods of propagation, this type of extractive use causes the degradation of its ecosystems. This project was carried out in the greenhouse of the In Vitro Plant Propagation of laboratory from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Cuenca. The objective of the project was to evaluate an organic substrate for the rooting of joyapa cuttings. The results achieved in the period of 90 days for the duration of the experiment, point out that there was no visible rooting, in all treatments except the sterile organic substrate, in which there was the appearance of an atypical root.
The rooting of joyapa cuttings with the use of organic substrate was not an efficient method so it intends the evaluation of other programs of vegetative propagation and sustainable use of this species in Andean areas.
