Background: the word abortion brings a series of images and controversies, before this term, a lot of people tend to react in an emotional way and more often irrational. It occurs in the 10 to 20% of pregnancies. Most of the abortions are preclinical (60%), in general the 85% happens before the 12 week of gestation. According to INEC abortion is the ninth cause of maternal death in Ecuador. The social and psychological impact that abortion causes is important in the women development. As the physical and psychological scars left broken families, fosters erroneous behavior, even causes suicide.
Objective: to determine the factors that interrupt the pregnancy in women of 18 to 35 years old treated in the gynecology area of “Pablo Jaramillo” Foundation, Cuenca 2015.
70 women aged 18-35 who were pregnant. It was observed that 84% of abortions occurred in the first trimester.
Conclusions: Abortion has multifactor causes like age, illness during pregnancy, physical factors, and exposure to chemicals, psychological and social factors that promote abortion. We found a strong association between the number of gestations and transvaginal bleeding, illness during pregnancy and the number of abortions
