The Andean forests have undergone processes of changes caused by deforestation, selective logging and the planting of exotic species, modifying the natural conditions of the of the Mazán and Llaviucuo micro watersheds. The aims of this study were to determine the impact of selective logging and the introduction of exotic species in different vegetation cover: Old Growht Forest (OGF), Secondary Forest (Secondary F.), Plantation of Eucalyptus globulus (Eucalyptus P.) and Plantations of Pinus patula (Pine P.). In each zone (Llaviucuo and Mazán), four plots of 10 x 15 m were implemented in each vegetation cover, within 5 subplots of 2 x 2 m were established. The following variables were registered: basal diameter (cm) and the height (cm) of all the individuals of tree species with a diameter <5cm and of the individuals of shrub species with a diameter <1cm were recorded. The results showed that there is a significant difference in both species richeness and abundance under the different vegetation cover. In the two study areas it is evident that in Pine P. both richness and abundance of species are lower in comparison with other vegetation cover.
