Abstract

Mycorrhizacan be found in theroots of orchids forming a symbiotic association; hence,moldscan be isolatedbyseeding theroots ofOrchids. In order to accomplish the latter, different fragmentsofroots offorty-oneorchid specieswere planted, andthese multipleplantings wereable to isolateten differentstrainsof molds. As a result, fourof the tenstrainshada positive effect onthe symbioticgermination of someseedsemployed; the effect ofmoldsdidseeds to germinatein a shorter timethan thosenot exposed. Insome of theother strains,pathogenic effectswere observed.
