BACKGROUND: The health regulations for the Certification of "Mother and Child
Friendly Health Establishments" (ESAMyN) were implemented with the aim of
reducing maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity through correct care of the
pregnant woman, humanized delivery, and supporting, protecting and encouraging
breastfeeding.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To identify the percentage of knowledge of professionals
in the area of gynecology and obstetrics at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital,
on the indicators of the ESAMyN. Cuenca, 2019.
METHODOLOGY: observational, descriptive study. A survey was applied to 66
professionals of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Area of the Vicente Corral
Moscoso Hospital. Data were tabulated and analyzed using the statistical program
SPSS version 15. Descriptive statistics were applied, for quantitative variables
using mean and standard deviation, for qualitative frequencies and percentages.
RESULTS: the prevalence of knowledge of the ESAMyN regulation was 78.79%,
21.22% had an average level (50-79%) of knowledge of the regulation. The
average age was 34.97 ± 8 years. The percentage of correct answers in the
general component was 67%, prenatal component 65%; finally, delivery,
postpartum 96% and breastfeeding 85%, these two components obtained a high
percentage of knowledge level.
CONCLUSIONS: the level of knowledge among health professionals about the
ESAMyN regulations was average (78.79%)
