Resumen
In Yanuncay, a neighborhood in Cuenca-Ecuador, there is a string of unconnected public spaces at pedestrian level. The main way to arrive to them is through roads designed for motorized vehicles.
Our intention is to offer a system of open spaces, linked through with well-designed connections for pedestrian and cyclists. With this we intend to create a system of public spaces that will enrich the urban life of the area.
A configurational analysis of the area was carried out focusing on land use, pedestrian and cyclist movement flows and their perception, collected through a survey. The data was analyzed with space syntax and wayfinding perspectives. With this information a public space network has been planned, taking into account the existing movement flows and the actual use patterns of the public space in the area.
