Resumen
The present investigation analyzes the factors that influence the consumption habits of drinking water of the inhabitants of the rural parishes Ricaurte and San Joaquín del Cantón Cuenca, identifies the existing relationships between the habits of responsible drinking water consumption and variables such as demographic characteristics, characteristics of the home, characteristics of the water supply. In addition, it was analyzed how the environmental education campaigns of the Municipal Public Water Company of Cuenca (Stage E.P.) affect the configuration of water consumption habits. Through a descriptive analysis of two case studies, through the application of a survey, interview and secondary data, the information was collected. The data were analyzed through inferential statistics techniques as well as contingency tables and tests of differences of means for the analysis of relationships. More than 50% of the surveyed population has responsible drinking habits; however, more work should be done on young people, single people and people with high economic incomes, since the main results found are that variables such as age, level of education and income level, are the ones that most influence the habits of Responsible drinking water consumption by the population. In addition, it was found that the company's Etapa E.P. They have a positive effect on people when using water responsibly.
