Introduction: the importance of knowing the quantity and quality of food that should be ingested in the gestational period lies in providing better health for both the fetus and the mother, coordinating the knowledge that the mother has with their attitudes and applying it in practice, thus decreasing neonatal maternal morbidity.
Objective: To determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices of eating in pregnant women of “El Valle” Health Center, 2018.
Methodology: The present descriptive observational study was conducted in the health center "El Valle", in 85 pregnant women who went to the institution, were assigned probabilistically, to whom they applied after signing the informed consent form the questionnaire "Knowledge, beliefs, attitudes and practices "in feeding in pregnancy, the information collected was tabulated and analyzed in the statistical package SPSS version 24, using descriptive statistics and presenting the information in frequency tables.
Results: The average age of the pregnant women interviewed was 25.8 years, the most frequent marital status is the "free union" (42.4%), the rural residence prevailed (58.8%), 55.2% He had a secondary education and most of them were engaged in domestic activities at home (50.6%); it was also possible to determine that in terms of knowledge and practices they were correctly answered in 88.2% and 76.5% respectively; In contrast, attitudes were mostly answered erroneously (54.1%).
Conclusions: the knowledge and practices are correct, and the incorrect attitudes in the feeding in the pregnancy, in mothers that go to the health center "The Valley".
