General Objective: To determine the prevalence of sleep disorders and associated factors in health personnel working at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during 2014.
Method: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study on 432 randomly selected professionals was conducted. Sleep Evaluation Questionnaire was by Monterrey sleep disorders. The information was analyzed in the program SPSS version 15, there were simple tables of frequencies and percentages were obtained mean and standard deviation of the quantitative variables and for the association obtained prevalence ratio and p-value with 95% confidence level.
Results: The mean age was at 31 - 39 years and in 63.9% of cases were female. The prevalence of sleep disorders was: 37% daytime excessive sleepiness; intermediate insomnia and final insomnia 30.6%; initial insomnia 29.2%; obstructive apnea 1.2%. There were no cases of paralysis of the sleep starting to wake up, bruxism and enuresis, nor of medications for sleep, sleepwalking, and 0.2% somniloquio; snoring 12.3%; restless legs and nightmares 2.3% and start sleeping paralysis only 1.6%.Among the risk factors statistically speaking, only performing night shift was significant for excessive sleepiness:,3; for intermediate and final insomnia: RP 2,5 and end insomnia: RP 1,8; with a value of p <0.05.
Conclusions: The prevalence of sleep disorders was variable, the excessive daytime sleepiness was the most frequent; Except the performance of night shifts, the other risk factor were not significant.
