Resumen
Purpose: this investigation determined social factors that influence Quilloac community in Cañar province.
Methodology: a descriptive research and qualitative work was performed with a group of 1432 people and the sample represented groups from 5 sectors. From each sector 4 families were randomly selected (20 families with 99 people). As research techniques, survey and direct /indirect observation were used. Also, a form developed and validated by the authors was used. Data was processed and analyzed with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and SPSS. The results are presented in contingency tables with their statistical analysis.
Results: from the 20 families in the community, 46% are students and 9% are large families. Migration occurs in 11% of married men. 11% of families own homes wich are made of brick or block by 55%. 80% have piped water. 48% is for direct use. 70% of the streets are unpaved. The most common disease is influenza (36% have had at least one case). 22% are farmers, 54% are women and 45% men.
Conclusion: this research allowed to determine social factors that influence families lives in Quilloac community. The daily experience of the Mamas and Taytas along with the Pacha Mama (Mother Earth), and ancient knowledge is prevalent every day in their lives.
