Resumen
The Illustrated Dictionary of place names of Cajas” product, the result of research of this theoretical study, a small format book conceived as a functional publishing system to carry in your backpack for an excursion or exploration.
Through an ethnographic field study or visit, for the development of the work and especially the illustrations and photographs, as the author of the thesis I had to engage in climate and survival in the old “Kaxas” term I coined the word “Cajas” according to Ruth Rodriguez Sotomayor investigator in his book The Kingdom of the Kitus (referring to the realms inhabited north and south of what is now the Ecuadorian highlands).
Reflecting on the historical process of these territories and putting on shoes ethnographer, I had to stay long in a place witnessing the events happening around, doing interviews, and narrating situations involved in the field work and share with the community food. These motivations became arriving home in important research to write the corresponding theoretical framework, but also motivated to imagine beautiful scenery, use photographs and interpret them with traces on any surface; thus, the product was born as explored and photographs of landscapes was achieved Cajas.
To have a broader notion of the subject I will quote the discipline responsible for studying the origin and name of the territory or places; etymologically, “place names”; They are the visual-phonetic lexicon search for the origin of a place-territory-continent, etc.; the word topos = place; and nimia = name; refer us to a place name meaning “name the place”; considering that the human being from the beginning seeking to locate and use the language and writing as a means of communication. The illustrated dictionary has and tells important situations for nature conservation and historic places highlighting the Cajas National Park; remeasured and revitalizes.
The plight and aggressive temperature to survive in the “Cajas” has been the reason why there have been no studies illustrated anthropological, or have lacked full images testify the history of a largely inhospitable space and currently tourism “Cajas” . This editorial product so provide entertaining information on how you came to raise and consolidate the work of place names on the historic sites of the Cajas National Park
