Resumen
Background: Knee instability refers to any abnormality; functional or anatomical that intervene in an adequate patellar joint congruence, being responsible for the majority of consultations for anterior knee pain in young patients.
Objectives: To determine if knee instability is associated with patellofemoral misalignment diagnosed by multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) in patients who attend the imaging service of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in the city of La Cuenca in the years 2019-2021
Method and technique: An analytical-cross-sectional study was conducted in patients referred from the trauma service with a knee MDCT request in the year 2019-2021, with a total of 103 patients and an analysis of 206 knees.
Results: 53.40% are between 18 and 35 years old, women reached 74.76%; knee instability was found in 74.76% of the population. Of the anatomical variants evaluated in the left and right knees, the pathological variant that represents a significant risk with a p value = <0.05 for knee instability is the TTTG with a risk of 4.07.
The presence of patellofemoral misalignment increases the risk for knee instability 9.61 times, this association is significant with a p value = <0.000.
Conclusion: Patellofemoral misalignment increases the risk of knee instability.
