Resumen
The overall objective of this research has been to link the compositional processes and the musical aesthetic thought of the Ecuadorian composer Gerardo Guevara, to the world of orchestral conducting, through the reflection and application of concepts, techniques and resources for orchestral conducting. “Galería Siglo XX” (XX Century Gallery), a work by Ecuadorian painters, underwent a reference analytical study as a way of sampling, for its practical application in a concerto that would contain some of the music and the most representative compositional moments from Guevara´s orchestral repertoire.
The statements used in the selected repertoire have rhizomatic features, in wich the technical elements organization do not follow reporting lines, but support their reflections on Francisco Navarro Lara´s and Emannuel Siffert´s concepts, being them conductors and professors who have very similar training as Guevara´s.
The development of this research makes multiple inferences about the work of researchers and thinkers of the musical analysis and orchestral conducting worlds, verifying their application and validity on the work used as sampling. Thus, long quotes are fundamental support of the content and contextualization of the resources to be used. The validity of the technical assumptions are verified by its application during rehearsals and during the concert in which Gerardo Guevara´s music was featured.
The application of resources on the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Cuenca gave satisfactory results during both, rehearsals and the final presentation. This being said, it is noted that the application of analytical resources, to the conducting practice itself, is feasible and has positive results regarding the management of the orchestral score, during its preparation and learning, for which its use and technical systematic application are recommended.
