The confusing replenishment of meat products generates unnecessary costs and expenses, due to their high
demand, in addition to uncertain factors such as the seasonality of the product or consumer variability,
which makes adequate replenishment difficult and causes waste in a supermarket. For the reasons stated
above, the study presents a method for the adequate supply, considering the expiration date of the products,
in order to reduce waste and optimize costs in a supermarket, also parameters in the supply of products
were identified. The study was developed with a propositional character, which is based on operations
research, using nonlinear programming, considering the demand as a function, whose origin was a
polynomial trend line generated from the product sales data. A comparison was made with the periodic
review model, achieving a decrease in the order quantities, avoiding an excess of products, obtaining a
decrease of 17.34 % in the generated costs. The non-linear programming model used was able to obtain an
optimal quantity and responded efficiently in a simulation, managing to visualize a relationship between
the lifetime of a product and the amount of initial inventory.
