The purpose of this research is the elaboration of a proposal for the fusion of the Ecuadorian genre Yaraví, with harmonic techniques and musical languages used in Jazz, through the preparation of 4 arrangements extracted from the book “Yaravíes Quiteños” by Juan Agustín Guerrero for solo guitar. The selected works are: Amor Mío, La Bartola, Don Jacinto and El Desengaño. As a first point, a brief contextualization of the genres has been carried out, providing information on their origin, their expressive and social character, as well as a general musical analysis of them. Afterwards, it has been determined that harmonic techniques to be used, these techniques have been studied and explained in this research project, since they are subsequently applied in the elaboration of the arrangements. Finally, 4 arrangements have been developed, in which their creative process has been explained, with an analysis of the variations that have been made, the harmonic techniques used and the musical characteristics of each work.
