Resumen
Carnival has been studied from different perspectives and contexts, since as it is a
worldwide celebration, each population conceives and interprets it in different ways.
However, despite the large amount of research recorded on the different carnivals in the
world, it is necessary to stop at those towns or communities that have not yet been studied
or have done so in a general way. From this perspective, it is essential to inquire about
the carnival festival in the parish of Jadán, where its inhabitants maintain and transmit
through all kinds of expressions the beliefs and customs that characterize them, in
addition, the celebration reflects the coexistence with the other and its reason for being.
From this perspective, it is worth asking: How has the celebration of carnival changed in
the parish of Jadán? To solve and account for this question, the ethnographic methodology
was used based on the following techniques: snowball, observation, field diary,
photography, open and semi-structured interview, and recording. Then, with the analysis
and interpretation of the primary information, the different actors, contexts and elements
involved in the festival were recorded. In this sense, the results obtained allow us to learn
more about the practices and beliefs before and during the celebration, as well as the
gastronomy, the music, the characters, among others, that are part of the collective
memory of the inhabitants.
