dc.description.abstractSuicide and suicide attempts have become an important issue. It is an epidemiological descriptive retrospective study, with the objective of determining the incidence of suicides among treated patients in the clinical and surgical hospital "Vicente Corral Moscoso" of the city of Cuenca in the period January 2002 to December 2003. 131 cases of which they were found 96,18fueron attempts. The age that was more frequent intentional self-harm is 15-24, sex with predisposition: the female. It's rare history of psychiatric illness but common alcohol and drug abuse. The most common method used was poisoning not pharmacological products. The invasive methods are used more and more among men
