Myofascial pain syndrome is a disorder of the masticatory muscles with a prevalence of 25%, can cause difficulty with mouth opening and masticatory function limitations.
Through a cross-sectional study the prevalence of myofascial pain in patients of the Dental Clinic School of the University of Cuenca and its relationship with stress, age and gender factors will be determined. In the sample calculation a frequency of 25% of problems myofascial pain syndrome, with error of 3%, 95% confidence interval, 10% was considered more losses, 320 patients 18 years and older. Myofascial pain syndrome should be identified by clinical observation and classified as no pain, mild pain, moderate pain, severe pain, severe pain and maximum pain. To define stress test Hamilton (HDRS) will be used. Tabulation and data analysis will be performed in SPSS version 22 with descriptive analysis characterizing the population, for correlation of myofascial pain syndrome with associated factors: chi square, prevalence ratio and confidence intervals of 95%.
