Resumen
This research proposal involves: to generate the geological model of the study area in order to determine the stability of the road Macas-Riobamba from General Proaño to 9 de Octubre, located in Morona Santiago province, canton Morona. A geological map of the study area will be made, areas of instability and potentially unstable are defined. It is recommended measures for the stabilization of the cut slopes and the causeway in the road by using a specialized software and identifies areas to be used as dumps and areas of borrow soils. For the geological map elaboration, a mapping of the entire track on a existing topographic base was made, in a total of 22 km, on a scale 1.1000 for slopes, the modeling of each one were made using the finite element method with the software Phase 2 considering a 1.5 safety factor as stable under normal conditions and 1.01 in pseudo static conditions. To define a possible stone quarry and landfill, a field search of suitable zones was carried out which provide the necessary conditions for its correct operation considering its area and capacity volume and access facilities for the landfill and for the quarry stone its volume of proven and probable reserves. It is concluded that the main cause of landslides and subsidence generation on track. It is the lack of an adequate drainage system, a high inclination degree of slopes and a bad compaction of the track.
