Resumen
This project carried out the design and installation of an automatic control system for the Ishpi emergency gate, and also a monitoring system to visualize in real time the water level of the conduction channel which feeds the four generation groups of the Alao hydroelectric plant. To fulfill the purpose, a communication link based on 3.5 km optic fiber was plotted and implemented. It will link the programmable logic controllers, which in turn, are programmed with TiaPortal software in its 15th version and are located in the Alao hydroelectric plant’s powerhouse and Ishpi’s control room. Their function will be to role as receivers and transmitters of the signals emitted by the ultrasonic sensor and the limit switches installed in the damper mentioned above, this will provide to remote controlling the Ishpi emergency gate, and in the same way, visualizing the water level of the conduction channel in real time through an human interface-machine installed in the plant’s control room. Once this mechanism is implemented, the gate will be able to be maneuvered from the Alao hydroelectric plant; if for some emergent reason, it is required to deviate the 4 cubic meters per second that normally flow in the conduction channel, the operating time of the gate will be reduced from 30 minutes to 60 seconds, safeguarding this way the inhabitants life and integrity.
