Resumen
The research Project known as a rate planning proposal for public transport conducted as an inter-cantonal collaboration within Mejia canton, its main purpose is to establish the operational costs that are generated in the urban public transport sector providing quality performance services and setting an affordable price rate. As part of this investigation, there was performed a controlled accounting in the number of boarding and dismounting passengers in order to determine the existing demand and the real quantity of commuters that use the three local operating systems which provide the service in Mejia Canton, where it was estimated an average of 557 users are mobilized per day and 193,872 every year. Revenues were earned of about $ 115,53 per day, $ 3.263,56 every month and $ 39.162,12 annually. On the account of identifying the current value rate, it was used the methodology provided by the national traffic agency. As a result, it was gathered the fixed costs with an estimated value of $ 28.258,23, variable costs of $ 16.569,26 and ultimately, it was established the new value rate of $ 0,335 cents according to the intra-cantonal public transport service. Finally, it has been noted that costs related to salaries, unit depreciation, legalization, depreciation and administrative expenses of the highest standards in the transport sector. Furthermore, 60% demanded corresponds to the full rate and 40% belongs to the preferential rates. It is strongly recommended to the mobility and transport management of the municipal decentralized self-government in Mejia Canton to take into account the current tariff study in order to establish a fair price in the intra-cantonal public transport paid service.
