Resumen
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) presents modifications or alterations in renal function or
structure. Guides such as KDIGO and KDOQI define Chronic Kidney Disease as the presence
of at least three months: decrease in glomerular filtration below 60 ml / min / 1.73 m2 or
definite renal injury given by renal biopsy, albuminuria, alterations in the urinary sediment or
through imaging techniques. It represents an important percentage of the population, and it is
related to different systemic diseases that have high incidence such as: Diabetes Mellitus,
Arterial Hypertension, Cardiovascular Disease. Its classification will depend on Glomerular
Filtering, albuminuria and according to the etiology, while its cause is based on some systemic
disease with compromise of renal function or renal pathologies showed by anatomopathological
alterations. Acute Renal Lesion and Chronic Renal Disease are closely interconnected
pathologies; on the other hand, Acute Renal Lesion contributes to the development and progress
of Chronic Kidney Disease, meanwhile Chronic Kidney Disease predisposes patients to develop
Acute Kidney Injury. The case that will be presented is referred to 24-year-old female patient to
the Satellite Health Center in the José María Velasco Ibarra Hospital in Tena on June 20 of this
year, with personal pathological history of left renal hypoplasia, nephrolithiasis and urinary
infection. Who presented in her admission, a clinical acute pyelonephritis complicated with pain
in the right lumbar fossa, thermal elevation, nausea and low urinary symptoms.
