Resumen
The present study entitled Design of an Inventory Control System based on the model of maximum and minimum levels for the Ponte Tresa S.A. Company, located in Cayambe Canton, Pichincha Province, was aimed to guarantee the opportune availability of the inventories necessary for the production process, through the establishment of real quantities that adjust to the needs of the company. To do this, research methods, techniques and instruments were used, such as a survey, an interview and an observation guide that were previously designed; obtaining as results that the company lacks an inventory control system, presented ignorance in determining the maximum, minimum and security quantities, as well as how much to order and when to place an order. With the application of this system, it was proposed that the company should consider a maximum stock of 2,949 units, a minimum stock of 1,233 units and a safety stock of 834 units for the 55x25x13 35m cap inventory, considering that the optimal quantity for each order is 1,388 units and within the established period you must make a total of 36 orders with a replenishment time of 10 days between each order. It was concluded that the problems found in the investigation have negatively affected the production process and profitability of the company. For this reason, the application of the inventory control system based on the model of maximum and minimum levels was recommended, considering the economic order quantity, number of orders and inventory replenishment time to counteract the deficiencies that the company has.
