Resumen
Assessing the seminal content of two tropical sheep breeds and two types of diluents for conservation in the Pastaza Experimental Station of the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, Researchers use two adult male sheep of the Polibuey and Black Belly breed with an average age of 31 months and an approximate weight of 73 to 75 kg, semen characteristics were evaluated at two times, before and after the conservation process. Fresh semen was evaluated using descriptive statistics for the qualitative variables and the quantitative variables the student's t-test, in the second moment in frozen semen, applying a completely randomized design with combinatorial arrangement, where Factor A is the race (A1: Polibuey and A2: Black Belly) and Factor B diluents (B1: Andromed and B2: One step). with 4 repetitions per treatment, taking the size of the experimental unit (SEU) 1 extraction. Valuing experimental results in fresh seminal content, the variables (colour, smell, ph, mass mortality, individual motility, sperm concentration, living-dead cells and morphology), no statistical differences being found (P> 0.05): unlike of the variable volume, finding significant differences (P <0.05). And when assessing the seminal content at 15 days post - defrosting for Factor A (Race), no statistical differences (P> 0.05) were found for mass motility and sperm viability. but if statistical differences were found for the individual motility variable (P <0.05). appearing in the race Black Belly 1.38 pts and in Pelibuey with 1.17 pts. proving that the seminal content of the male Black Belly is more resistant to freezing, for Factor B1 (Diluents) no statistical differences are found in any variable, in terms of the interaction A x B the A1B1 treatments; A1B2; A2B1; A2B2, not showing statistical differences (P> 0.05). but if finding numerical differences, having the best treatment A2B2. To conclude the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics in fresh semen were appropriate for each race, being within the established ranges, on the other hand, in post-defrosting, the one that presented greater resistance to freezing is the male Black Belly. Recommending subsequent research on reproductive biotechnologies in both races that, after their evaluation, could be used in genetic improvement programs.
