Resumen
The objective of this research was to design and evaluate an access network using fiber technologies up to X (FTTx) and hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) in an urban area using OptiSystem to measure parameters of efficiency in the transmission, the design is to made for the City Hall project located in “La Concordia" province of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas. This project aims to make the network capable of making bidirectional transmission of information between users and the main network designed. Later, the design proposal in AUTOCAD was presented, taking into account technical criteria of both technologies which allowed what allowed determining the best architecture for the design of the network. In order to validate the design was carried out the simulation in the software OptiSystem 14.0 where it was determined the operation of the network and the errors it can have. The results obtained in this project are based on the analysis of the nearest user and the user farther considering parameters such as the budget of the link, factor Q and the rate of bit terror (BER) that were satisfactory and were visualized through of the eye diagram as the main indicator that guarantees the quality of the fiber optic link together with the respective economic analysis indicating the cost benefit of the project. It is concluded that the access network for the City Hall project is viable and has a great bandwidth, so that you can offer convergence of voice, data and videos. Therefore, it is recommended that the project be implemented due to its network security and low investment.
