Resumen
The main objective was the design of an Hybrid Fiber Coaxial network for the implementation of the audio and video subscription service and internet in Puyo city for the engineering company FERSA. A study was made on the operation of HFC technology, taking into account its components, its structure, as well as the advantages and disadvantages existing in comparison to the pay television operators current market. Using the Optisystem simulation software, test scenarios of an HFC network were implemented as well as a Fiber to Home network (FTTH), where the parameters corresponding to the quality factor (Q), the bit error rate (BER) were obtained. and attenuation in the receiver, considering the features stipulated in the ITU-G.984.2 standard. When comparing the simulations, a difference of 0.468 and 0.126 is obtained for the values of the Q factor, in the farthest and closest user, and 0.454 dBm for the attenuation of the signal, which show a slight superiority on the part of the FTTH network. The HFC network obtained results able to transmit a signal of quality and also using the design of the network in all the city and the form of cage and wiring location. We will make use of the present project like an implementation guide for the company and thus to execute the implementation of the node used in the demonstration, after its endorsement of the granting by the Regulation and Control Telecommunications Agency (ARCOTEL). It is recommended to carry out a more in-depth analysis of the HFC and FTTH networks in order to obtain studies solely focused on the comparison of these technologies.
