Resumen
The Cancer Society Hospital (SOLCA) Núcleo loja has an area of nuclear medicine in which, with the use of ionizing radiation, diagnostic and treatment services are provided. In this area, the optimal compliance of the radiological protection of the patient is important, being considered an indispensable requirement. Because, by means of an activimeter, the correct measurement of the activity of the radiopharmaceutical must be carried out before administering it to the patient, the objective of this study was to carry out the application of a quality control protocol in the area of radiopharmacy. For the choice of the tests to be carried out (background, precision, linearity), the needs of the department were considered in a particular way. An ATOMLAB brand activimeter from BIODEX was used and, as a radioactive source. The background tests resulted in an average of (0.095 ± 0.052) mbq; those of precision, 1.27%; while, in the linearity test, the results are within the tolerance limit. This study made it possible to demonstrate the need to perform these tests on a regular basis, as well as the importance of generating internal protocols that improve the quality of services.
