The purpose of the research was to identify the difference in the useful life of the lubricating oil used in diesel engines, due to the different geographical and atmospheric conditions that the country presents. For which three vehicles with diesel engines were used, Unit 18, Unit 4, Unit 6, which operate in different geographical locations in Ecuador. Sampling was carried out at 0 km, 3000 km, 6000 km and 8500 km of travel, said sampling was by means of a vacuum pump 1U- 5718 and a sterilized plastic container, all samples were tested for oil analysis in a specialized laboratory where oil condition results such as viscosity, soot and sulphation were obtained, as well as data from the additive package such as calcium, phosphorus and wear data. Using statistical software EXCEL and MINITAB 19, the results were obtained that the lubricant of unit 18 presents significant differences compared to units 4 and 6, showing a 2.09% difference in viscosity and 41.67% in soot, on the other hand, the sulfation does not present changes because the fuel used in the three cars is the same. It is concluded that there is a difference in the wear of the lubricating oil due to the geographical differences in which the engines worked due to the amount of oxygen and the degree of inclination of slopes on the routes. It is recommended to expand the number of samples to obtain a greater number of data, in this way the statistical analyzes will be more efficient.
