dc.description.abstractThis research objective aims to redesign the treatment system of the contaminated soil by petroleum, from ARCOIL CIA. TDA. Enterprise located in San Sebastián del Coca Cantón, Orellana Province . Samples composed of 250 g of sand and clay soil contaminated with petroleum were taken of environmental characterization and 5 kg of accurate of the same soils for treatability test in the laboratory. In the characterization of the samples carried out by the Technical Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (CESTTA) at Escuela Superior Politecnica de Chimborazo it was shown that these soils have values of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) out of the limit ruled by the Environmental Regulation for Hydrocarbons Operations in Ecuador ( RAOHE) such as 6185.83 mg/kg of TPH in the sail soil, and 38584.58 mg/Kg in the clay soil. For the treatability tests in the laboratory, two pre-treatments were proposed, the former is the method of soil washing with surfactant TWEEN 80, and the latter is the extraction method with solvents as the white petrol. It is concluded that after making calculation in the laboratory, the treatment by chemical oxidation conserves its procedures imposed by the enterprise modifying only the oxidant agent. This method is the most efficient because the treatment time is reduced from 12 weeks top 3-4 weeks approximately according to the level of soil contamination. It is recommended to waterproof with geo membranes the land where the treatment units are going to be built in order to avoid future subterranean contaminations.
