Resumen
The purpose of this work was to analyze the comparison between passive access network technologies of the type Fiber to The Home (Fiber To The Home, FTTH) between the passive Gigabit Optical Fiber Network (Gigabit Passive Optical Network, GPON) and the next generation of passive optical Fiber network (Next generation passive optical network, NGPON2) to measure its performance and determine which is more optimal. It was proposed as a research hypothesis if the application of NGPON2 will improve the performance of passive FTTH networks with respect to the use of GPON. The methodology used is mainly focused on a quasi-experimental method that allowed obtaining the data measured in the Optisystem simulation software, for which approximately 640 data were taken for each technology and each parameter. From the results obtained a value of null BER was obtained for the NGPON2 technology and 0.00000000000000000000000005745 for the BER of GPON measured at a distance of 20 Km and with respect to the indicator of the LATENCY a similar value was obtained for both the technology GPON as for NGPON2 whose value found is 0,00000005375. From this it was determined that there is no normality of the data by a non-parametric statistical analysis of the U-Mann Whitney method performed with the help of the SPSS statistical system. From the analysis of the p-value method it was determined that our research hypothesis was successfully validated. From the results obtained and with the accepted research hypothesis, it is concluded that the NGPON2 technology has better performance than the GPON technology, so it is recommended to continue this research by analyzing in future real cases and with other parameters.
