Resumen
This investigation aimed to determine the application efficiency of three irrigation methods on corn (Zea mays L.) variety INIAP-101, at Tunshi Experimental Station, using a statistical model of randomized complete block design (RCBD), with three treatments and three replications, giving a total of nine experimental units; for gravity irrigation (T1), drip irrigation (T2) and sprinkler irrigation (T3). During the investigation, crop biometric data such as were collected, such as the percentage of emergence at 15 days after sowing (DDS); root depth, plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and relative water content at 30, 75 and 120 days after sowing (DDS); the height of corn insertion, dry matter, and yield at 120 days after sowing (DDS). For the calculation of the irrigation lamina and irrigation volume, the moisture meter was used to obtain real and precise daily data of the moisture present in the soil now of sampling. This study revealed that the treatment with the highest application efficiency was drip irrigation (T2) with96%; this efficiency significantly influenced the yield per category of corn crop, therefore drip irrigation (T2) the one that obtained the highest yield in the first category with 8.34 t/ha. In conclusion, drip irrigation (T2) reduces the water footprint and increases crop yield. Periodic application efficiency tests are recommended.
